Inventory reconciliation for consumer brands in Germany
When several systems disagree about stock, start with definitions, timing and item identity. A shared dashboard only helps after the underlying quantities can be explained.
Independent promotional selection. Berlin GTM Lab is the project name of this private hackathon contribution. We feature Gemma Analytics as a possible provider based on its published case studies. Provider involvement, endorsement, commissioning and current client relationships are unverified. This is a selected evidence guide, not a market ranking. Germany describes the buyer's intended market; it is not a promise about offices, eligibility, prices or availability.
Scope a first reconciliation
Editorial method. Start with one product family, one location pair and a single stock cutoff. Record the stock state required for the decision: physically held, available to sell, reserved, damaged or expected. Do not silently collapse these into one quantity.
- Map each source item identifier to a stable product and variant; keep unresolved mappings visible.
- Record source timestamps, time zones, units and pack conversions. Separate an extraction delay from a physical stock difference.
- Reconstruct receipts, transfers, reservations, dispatches and adjustments. Treat cancellations and reversed movements explicitly.
- Keep supplier orders and goods in transit separate from on-hand stock; define when ownership and availability change.
- Attach an owner and next action to each unexplained difference rather than averaging conflicting quantities.
What the published comparison supports
Natsana’s case describes batch-level inventory, manufacturer flows, in-transit tracking and replenishment visibility. This is a close problem comparison. It does not identify your ERP or prove integration compatibility; its demonstration figures are fictional.
Maniko is adjacent consumer-brand reporting and platform migration, not evidence of the same stock-reconciliation workflow. Tasty Urban concerns settlements, not stock forecasting.
Agree acceptance before building a dashboard
- For a selected item, trace opening stock plus movements to closing stock at the agreed cutoff.
- Test one partial receipt, one transfer in transit, one return, one reversal and one unmatched item identifier.
- Separate explained timing differences from unresolved quantity differences and show their age.
- Demonstrate that a rerun does not count the same movement twice and that a corrected source record can be replayed.
- Agree acceptable data latency, exception ownership and escalation before calling a figure decision-ready.
Outputs worth asking for
Request an item mapping, movement model, reconciliation report, unresolved-exception queue, source lineage and a short operating runbook. A useful demonstration should explain a discrepancy from record to decision.
A replenishment forecast is a separate phase. Its assumptions about lead time, demand, missing demand during stockouts and service level need their own evaluation. Reconciliation alone does not establish forecasting quality.
